The central idea of this project is to give women who are HIV+ the opportunity to attend a free birthing class designed especially for them. The birthing class is intended to be a safe place for women who are HIV+, allowing them the opportunity to get their questions answered, as well as meet other women in similar situations. We want to give them this special "Rite of Passage" that other women get when they are expecting a child. We hope to shower them with some of the essentials needed to welcome their new baby. Many of the women cannot afford to buy these items and will not have a traditional baby shower. With that in mind, we also want to spread awareness around testing and treatment for HIV in women who are having children.
